Star Fire

From Ron Goodwin’s 1960’s ‘633 Squadron’ and ‘Battle of Britain’ soundtracks through to the great sci-fi themes of John Williams (Star Wars, ET) brass instruments have played a central role in the sound of action and adventure music.

This piece is an homage to all the great composers who have written in this genre. After an opening fanfare, in the style of Copland’s ‘Fanfare for the Common Man’, the main theme takes us through a number of episodes featuring cornets, trombones and a testing solo for euphonium before a return to the main theme in canon between cornets and trombones leads to a rousing finish.
