Carequinha

Carequinha was Brazil’s most celebrated clown, famous the world over before his death in 2006. This is an homage to the great man, and to all clowns who, as we all know, hide all of life’s sadness behind their happy mask.

After an opening flourish the quirky 7/8 theme leads to a number of episodes for cornets, horn section tutti, bass trombone/basses before a quietly reflective central section. The mood soon changes, with a macabre Waltz that leads to an exciting finale.
